Pétur Eiríkur Erlendsson was born at Djúpavogur in S. Múlasýsla in 1870. He died on July 2, 1954.

Pétur came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1889 and worked for the railroad in the city the first years. He moved to the country a year later and worked the harvest season for a farmer near the town of Carberry. From there he walked to the Argyle Settlement, more than a 60 km walk (37 miles). He got a job with farmers here and there in the area but then finally bought land near Belmont in 1896 and worked there until 1907. From there he went to the village of Belmont and later to Glenboro. In 1911 he moved to Winnipeg and lived there ever after. Kristín came west to Manitoba with her parents in 1876. They were pioneer settlers in the Argyle Settlement.
