Kristjana Ólafsdóttir was born in Dalasýsla on October 31, 1851. She died in the Shoal Lake Settlement (Grunnavatnsbyggð) on July 28, 1933.

Jón came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1882 while Kristjana arrived there a year later with Hannes and Sigríður Júlíana. Guðbjörg came there in 1889. They settled in New Iceland in the Fljóts Settlement and lived there until 1904.
