Sigríður Halldórsdóttir was born in Dalasýsla on January 11, 1883. She died in the Akra Settlement in N. Dakota on November 7, 1899.

Sigríður came west to Winnipeg in 1887 with her parents, Halldór Jóhanneson and Guðbjörg Guðbrandsdóttir. Halldór drowned in the Red River in 1895 and it is believed that Sigríður was taken in and fostered by relatives in the Akra Settlement in N. Dakota.
