Guðrún Rósa was the daughter of Jóhannes Halldórsson and Anna Sigurðardóttir who came west in 1878 and settled in N. Dakota. Þorgils came west in 1883 with his parents, Jóhannes Jónsson and Guðrún Andrésdóttir. They were first in New Iceland but then moved in 1888 to Winnipeg and Þorgils lived there the rest of his life. He worked for the Canadian Pacific Railroad.
