Björn Björnsson was born in Strandasýsla on April 25, 1867. He died in Alberta on January 26, 1931.

Björn came west to Winnipeg in 1887. Margrét had come west to New Iceland in 1878 with her parents, Gísli Eiríksson and Anna Einarsdóttir. The family lived there 3 years, then moved to N. Dakota and Gísli took land near Hensel. They made their way to Alberta in 1891 and Gísli took land near Markerville. Björn arrived there about the same time.
