Margrét came west to New Iceland in 1878 with her parents, Gísli Eiríksson and Anna Einarsdóttir. The family lived there 3 years, then moved to N. Dakota and Gísli took land near Hensel. They made their way west to Alberta in 1891 and Gísli took land near Markerville. Björn came west to Winnipeg in 1887, lived there a few years, then moved to Alberta.
