They came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1876 and first lived in New Iceland. The road led Gísli to N. Dakota where they lived in Mountain. He moved to the Mouse River community and lived there until 1920 when he moved to the Swan River Valley Settlement (Álftárdalsbyggð).
