Guðrún Guðmundsdóttir was born on October 24, 1862 in the Westmann Islands (Vestmannaeyjar).
Spouse: 1) Guðmundur Ísleifsson b. 1861, d. in Iceland after 1901 2) Pétur Jónsson b. 1871.
She lost her husband after 1901 and came to the West in 1905, a widow with her daughter, Margrét Ísleif Guðmundsdóttir, b. May 18, 1894 in the Westmann Islands. Accompanying them to the west was Guðjón, Guðrún’s brother. They settled in Selkirk and stayed there for some time. Guðjón married in 1907 and went west to Saskatchewan in 1911 and bought land near Foam Lake. From there he moved to Red Deer Point in Manitoba and after three years settled in Winnipegosis. It is quite possible that Guðrún was with him all the time and went to Winnipegosis because Pétur Jónsson lived there then.
