Vilborg Jónsdóttir was born in E. Skaftafellssýsla in 1880. She died in Winnipegosis, Manitoba in 1948.
Unmarried and childless.
She came to Canada in 1893 with her parents, Jón Jónsson and Þórdís Halldórsdóttir, her older sister Halldóra and brother Jón. The family settled in the Ísafold Settlement in Manitoba and there took in as a foster child Sigríður Jóhannsdóttir, b. October 21, 1891. She was the daughter of Jóhann Jóhannsson and Friðrika Rósa Jónsdóttir. The family had to leave the Ísafold Settlement shortly after the turn of the century and settled to the west in the Framnes Settlement. When Vilborg’s parents passed away, she went with Sigríður to her brother Jón, who then settled in Winnipeg. Vilborg always lived with Jón and went with him to Winnipegosis in 1928. Sigríður went south to the Akra Settlement in N. Dakota, got married, and died there on March 22, 1943.
