Sigríður Hjaltadóttir was born in Strandasýsla in 1855. She died in 1928 in Canada.
Spouse: Jón Guðmundsson b. in Strandasýsla on May 31, 1850, d. in the Þingvalla Settlement in Saskatchewan in 1888.
Children: 1. Sigurbjörg Jónína b. 1883, took the last name Carlson in Vancouver 2. Guðbjörg Hjaltveig b. October 28, 1885, took the last name Johnson in Blaine, Washington 3. Jón b. in the west or on the way west in 1888, took the last name Goodman in Vancouver.
They came west in 1888 and went directly to the Þingvalla Settlement in Saskatchewan. Jón died there and rests in the settlement’s cemetery. Sigríður probably continued to live in the area and raise her children there because her father, Hjalti Hjaltason, and his wife, Margrét Helgadóttir, also moved there the same year.
