Ingólfur Magnússon was born in Eyjafjarðarsýsla on July 2, 1874. He died in Selkirk on October 1, 1942.

Ingólfur was not a year old when he came west to Canada in 1874 with his parents, Magnús Hallgrímsson and Sesselja Daníelsdóttir. They were in Kinmount the first year and then settled in Mikley in New Iceland in 1875. They made their way to the Fljót Settlement in 1883. Anna Kristín came west in 1887 with her parents, Jón Jónsson and Helga Lilja Guðmundsdóttir, who settled in the Hnausa Settlement. Ingólfur and Anna Kristín settled in Selkirk in 1899 and lived there the rest of their lives.
