Annie was born in Narrows on northern Lake Manitoba, the daughter of Jón Sigurðsson from Hálsi í Kinn and Pálína Þórðardóttir of Eyjafjarðarsýsla. She moved with her parents in 1902 to Westbourne, on the south side of Lake Manitoba. From there, the family moved in 1904 to the Lundar Settlement and lastly to Eriksdale in 1910 Annie and her family lived there the rest of their lives.
