Hrólfur Matthíasson was born in 1840 in S. Þingeyjarsýsla. He died in Manitoba in 1913.

Hrólfur and Ingunn came west in 1903 with Valgerður. Hrólf’s children came west as follows: Laufey in 1900, Inga Guðrún in 1888, Jónína in 1904, Þorgrímur after 1901, and Jóhanna in 1912. It is unclear when Þorsteinn came west, Sesselja stayed in Iceland. They settled in Manitoba and lived the first two years in Glenboro, then moved north to Winnipeg Beach and lived there.
