Gordon was the son of Kristján Pétursson and Þorbjörg Kristjánsdóttir in Gimli. He pursued an education, studying at Wesley College in Winnipeg and earning a B.A. degree in 1912. He was a solicitor in the Winnipeg office of Pitplado & Co. A great musician, he was a young man in the West Winnipeg Band and one of the founders of the Icelandic men’s choir in Winnipeg. Magnea was the daughter of Reverend Friðrik Bergmann and Guðrún Ó Thorlacius in Winnipeg.
