Davíð Sigurgeir Eggertsson was born at Siglunes, Manitoba on May 1, 1911.

Davíð was the son of Eggert Sigurgeirsson and Svanhildur Sigurbjörnsdóttir who came west to Manitoba in 1906 and settled in Siglunes, Manitoba. Davíð grew up there and soon his interest in farming became apparent, he worked for his father and then took over his parent’s land when his father died. He was involved in the community and was in the local government for many years. He was well-mannered and worked as a carpenter as well as a farmer. He built quite a few houses and the church in Vogar was a great project for him. In 1957 he moved west to the Pacific Ocean and lived the last few years in Vancouver. Sesselja was the daughter of Halldór Halldórsson from Húnavatnssýsla and his wife, Margrét Þórhildur Hávarðsdóttir.
