Ragnar became an economist and throughout his life he worked at suitable jobs. In VÆÆ IV he is discussed: “In 1955 he completed his Ph. D degree in economics from the University of Wisconsin. Was a professor at South Dakota State University in Brookings, S. D., 1955-1959 and established there an international conference on the disposal of the overproduction of wheat, which was attended by representatives from wheat-growing countries. Came back to Canada in 1959 and has since been an economist and agent with the Canadian Wheat Board. But the work of its deputies, who are five in number, consists in providing markets for wheat in various nations and making agreements with them for the sale of grain on behalf of Canada. – He has traveled widely throughout Europe, South America and Asia on missions, including to Russia, Peru and Japan. He was, e.g., one of the agents who signed an agreement with China in 1969 for the sale of wheat, amounting to 135 million dollars.”
