Björn F Jósafatsson

Vesturfarar

Björn lived in Winnipeg in the last decade of the 19th century and took part in the publication of Heimskringla. The publishers of the newspaper declared bankruptcy in May, 1897, and Björn in company with Einar Ólafsson bought the publishing rights as well as the printing press. The first issue they published saw the light of day on October 14, 1897, and was edited by Einar. He was then editor until March 1898, when Björn took over. He also took care of the publication and printing, so he could never devote himself solely to editing. The pressure was too much and in the fall of 1898 he sold the paper to Baldvin L. Baldvinsson and Björn returned to N. Dakota.
