Dafoe, Saskatchewan is the westernmost village in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) and the smallest. Finnbogi Jónsson (Sanders in the west), son of Jón Jónsson and Rannveig Guðmundsdóttir, came to the settlement in 1907, opened a hardware store in the village and ran it for a while. Several of his lands were south and east of the village.
