Province of BC, Canada: British Columbia, the western-most province in Canada, is almost entirely mountainous. The climate is wetter and warmer than the remainder of Canada. Icelandic settlement principally occurred near the cities of Victoria and Vancouver, on the rainy Pacific coast known for majestic trees. Victoria is located on Vancouver Island, a large island paralleling the mainland coast. Vancouver, on the mainland across from Victoria, is located largely on the flat delta of the Fraser River, which drains much of the mountainous interior. H. Thorleifson.
