Gestur Runólfsson fæddist í Mýrasýslu 23. mars, 1864. Maki: Sigríður Elísabet Gísladóttir f. 23. september, 1866 í Mýrasýslu. Börn: 1. Jóhanna f. 9. maí, 1893. Þau fluttu vestur árið 1893 og fóru til Manitoba. Voru fyrst á Gimli, svo í Winnipeg en enduðu í Selkirk.
