Thorstína S. Jackson said of Páll in her book Saga Íslendinga í N. Dakota which was published in Winnipeg in 1926:
“The 46 years that Páll has lived in North Dakota, he has been more or less involved in public work, holding school, settlement and state offices. For twenty years he was president of the school board; for 40 years justice of the peace; for several years an assessor; four times elected member of state assembly; and once as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention for the Presidential nomination” (pg. 456)
