Sigurbjörg Sigurgeirsdóttir was born in Barðastrandarsýsla in 1861.
Spouse: Gísli Guðmundsson b. at Vestfjörðir, d. at Point Roberts, Washington in 1913. He took the last name Goodman in the west.
Children: 1. Sveinsína b. in Iceland in 1888 2. Herdís b. in Canada in 1896.
They came to the West in 1889 and were first in Winnipeg for a few years. From there they headed west to the Pacific Ocean where they lived for a while in Victoria on Vancouver Island. They then went to Point Roberts and settled on land that Sigurbjörg’s father and her brother Bent had first owned. They got the right to live there in 1908 and immediately got down to business, cleared the land and built a house. After her husband’s death, she sold their home and land and bought a smaller property further west on the island where several buildings stood. She then lived there with her mother, Björg Jónsdóttir, who had become blind in old age.
