Alexandra was the daughter of Halldór Brynjólfsson and Rósa Magnúsdóttir from Gimli in New Iceland. She followed the educational path, attended Jón Bjarnason Academy in Winnipeg, then Wesley College and finally the Teachers College in Winnipeg. She graduated from there as a teacher and taught for a long time. Bergsveinn was the son of Jón Jónsson and Sigríður Bjarnadóttir, pioneers in the Mary Hill area near Lundar. He farmed there until 1960, when he moved to Oak Point. He took matters into his own hands, was a school trustee at Mary Hill School 1940-1942 and a caretaker of the school at Oak Point 1960-1973. Considered a good athlete, he won countless medals in long-distance running.
