Andrés came west alone to Winnipeg in 1882. Guðrún came west in 1883 with her parents Björn Stefán Jósefsson and Margrét Stefánsdóttir. Andrés and Guðrún lived in Headingley from 1894 to 1905, moved that year to Winnipeg. The road then led them to Arborg.
