Anna was the daughter of Sigurður Jónsson and Sigríður Guðmundsdóttir, who came west in the summer of 1900. She was very involved in social affairs, chaired Kvenfélag Bjarkar for a decade, was the president of The Women’s Section of the Lundar Agricultural Society and worked with the Red Cross organization in the Lundar settlement. Kári’s parents, Stefán Björnsson and Guðbjörg Sigurðardóttir, came west with him in 1893.  They settled in the Shoal Lake settlement (Grunnavatnsbyggð), where Kári grew up. He lived for several years in Clarkleigh, Manitoba before settling in Lundar. There he farmed and also fished and ran a fish store. Then he ran a guest house in town. He was involved in social issues, chairman and deputy chairman of various associations and institutions.
