Anna was the daughter of Sigvaldi Jóhannsson and Ingibjörg Steinunn Magnúsdóttir who came west in 1883. Halldór was the son of Ásmundur Björnsson and Helga Sigurðardóttir. They lived in New Iceland. Halldór was in the Canadian Army in Europe 1918-1919. When he returned home, he took land in the Víðir-Sand Hills settlement but later moved to Arborg.
