In her younger years, Ása studied at a school in England. Henry came to Iceland in 1914 to do research and there he prepared to defend his doctoral thesis. In 1945 they moved to the West Indies and lived in Spring Hill Estate, not far from the capital of Trinidad. In 1968, she gave a large sum of money to the Icelandic Society of Science to promote scientific work there. It should be noted that Dr. Sigurður Nordal received the first grant from the fund.
