Einar came west alone to New Iceland in 1910. He went to his cousin in the Hnausa settlement and lived for five years and met Ólöf. She was the daughter of Hall Hallsson and Lilja Lárusdóttir of Skagafjörður. Einar and Ólöf moved to Selkirk and lived there 17 years. Einar had a fishing boat on Lake Winnipeg and had a small farm in the community.
