Einar grew up in the area near Leslie in the Lakes settlement and started helping with the farm at a young age. He started his own, but left and devoted himself to retail and tool sales in Leslie for almost 20 years. He became a farmer there again around 1949. Aurora was the daughter of Þorsteinn Þorláksson, son of Þorlákur Jónsson from Stóra Tjörn and Hlaðgerður Grímsdóttir Laxdal.
