Elín Kristjánsdóttir was born in Red Deer, Alberta on March 11, 1907.
Spouse: July 16, 1934 Edvard Hjálmar Björnsson b. March 18, 1904 in Minneota, Minnesota, d. in Minneapolis on October 24, 1958.

Edvard was the son of Gunnar Björnsson and Ingibjörg Ágústa Jónsdóttir. He graduated from Minneota High School in 1922 and received his B.A. degree from the University of Minnesota in 1927. After that, studied economics at the school. His father was a long-time editor of the Minneota Mascot, and Edvard learned printing from him. More about Edvard in Atvinna below. Elín was the daughter of Kristján Jónasson and Halldóra Bergthórsdóttir, who came west in 1894.
