Feldís was the daughter of Þorlákur Hallgrímsson and Guðrún Eiríksdóttir. Ólafur and Feldís moved to Manitoba in 1903 and settled in Gimli. Ólafur contributed to the Icelandic community in Gimli, worked a lot in the Reading Society (Lestrarfélag) and the Icelandic National League. He worked for Armstrong Fisheries for 39 years.
