Framar came to the West in 1903 and settled in Manitoba. He worked for farmers at first, later doing commercial work until he bought land in the Siglunes settlement in 1908. He lived there for a while, but then moved closer to Vogur, where he lived for the rest of his life. Baldrún was the daughter of Jörundur Sigurbjörnsson and Anna Jónasdóttir, who came west from Húsavík in 1893 and were first in Mountain, N. Dakota. Jörundur was the first to explore land on Siglunes by Lake Manitoba and must have given the name to the peninsula.
