Grímur Júníus Magnússon was born in Gullbringusýsla on June 17, 1895.
Spouse: 1923 Lára Ósk Þorsteinsdóttir b. in Reykjavík on July 7, 1903.
Children: 1. Jón Þórður 2. Þórunn Sigríður 3. Þorsteinn Ólafur.
Grímur was the son of Magnús Grímsson and Sigríður Jónsdóttir in Nýlendi. He was fostered by Þórður Einarsson and Guðbjörg Þorláksdóttir, who took him with them to the West in 1900. Guðbjörg did not live long in the West, so Þórður put the boy into foster care with Jón Pálsson and Agnes Magnúsdóttir, settlers in Vatnsdal in the Geysir settlement. Another child was fostered there, Lára Ósk Þorsteinsdóttir. Grímur took over farming in Vatnsdal, where they lived. Both were very involved in social affairs in the settlement, were in the Geysir congregation and taught Lára in Sunday school.
