Grímur was the son of Þórður Eggert Grímsson and Sveinbjörg Torfadóttir. Þórður’s father and Grímur’s grandfather took the last name Laxdal and the same did descendants in the West. Grímur Sveinbjörn grew up in Vatnabyggð and followed the educational path. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon and became a teacher. He was in World War II 1942-1945. Agneta was the daughter of Helgi J Helgason and Helga Gróa Guðbrandsdóttir in Vatnabyggð.
