Guðrún Andrésdóttir was born in 1854 in Húnavatnssýsla. She took the last name Salomon in the west.
Spouse: 1) Björn Stefánsson b. in Húnavatnssýsla in 1856, d. in Winnipeg 1890. 2) Sigfús Jónasson b. 1856, Sigfús Salomon in the west; d. at Point Roberts, Washington 1919.
Children: With Björn: 1. Jón b. 1886 2. Guðrún Júlía b. 1891. Guðrún and Björn also had a girl who died young.
They came west to Winnipeg in 1887 and there Björn died. Guðrún, a single mother, had a hard time there in Winnipeg, but she persevered. In 1894 she moved west and settled in Seattle. There she met Sigfús, he was the son of Jónas Kortsson and Margrét Sveinsdóttir, pioneer settlers in N. Dakota. They got married and in 1897 they went to Point Roberts and settled on 40 acres of land. Guðrún lived her last years with her son Jón and his family.
