Guðrún Helgadóttir was born in 1898 at Point Roberts, Washington. She took the last name Thordarson with marriage.
Spouse: Þórður Benjamín Þórðarson b, January 28, 1892 in W. Skaftafellssýsla. He was known as Ben Thordarson in the west.

Guðrún was the daughter of Helgi Þorsteinsson and Dagbjört Dagbjartsdóttir, early settlers on the Point Roberts peninsula. Þórður was the son of Þórður Jónsson and Ragnhildur Jónsdóttir at Hellir in Mýrdal. His father died before he was born so his mother took care of his upbringing. In 1910 he came to the West and in 1915 he settled at Point Roberts. Þórður worked for a long time at the canning company Alaska Packers Association at Point Roberts.
