Halldór Halldórsson was born in Húnavatnssýsla on October 6, 1878. He died in Manitoba on February 7, 1917.

Halldór came west across the sea in 1889 with his father, Halldór Jónsson. His mother, Arnbjörg Jónsdóttir, came to the West 2 years before with the other children. Margrét Þórhildur came west to Manitoba in 1888 with her parents, Hávarður Guðmundsson and Helga Jónsdóttir. Halldór moved with his parents north to Hayland, Manitoba and Margrét Þórhildur did the same with hers. They married there and started farming. They later moved to Westbourne which is southwest of Lake Manitoba.
