Halldóra was the daughter of Hávarður Guðmundsson and Helga Jónsdóttir who settled on the northern side of Lake Manitoba in 1888. Reginbald’s parents were Ágúst Jónsson and Sigríður Erlendsdóttir, who came west in 1900 and settled near Reykjavík, Manitoba. Halldóra was a teacher and taught at various places near the lake, the last in Ashern. Reginbald was a farmer.
