Hallur and Lilja came west in 1883 and went to New Iceland. They spent the first winter in the Fljóts settlement but moved in 1884 to their land in Breiðuvík in the Hnausa settlement that they name Flugustaðir. After 16 years, they moved to the Arnes settlement and named their farm there Björk. Hallur ended his life at Hóll in the Fljóts settlement.
