They came west in 1874 and went to Kinmount, Ontario where Jónas’ brother, Sigtryggur, lived. They followed their life road west to New Iceland a year lager and spent the first winter in Gimli. In the spring of 1876, they moved north to Mikley. From there, they moved in 1877 to the Fljóts Settlement where they lived the rest of their lives. Jónas was a printer and was hired to publish Framfari and took care of printing the paper all its days.
