Henry was the son of Kristján Sigurgeirsson Sivertz and Elinborg Salóme Samúelsdóttir. He was educated and read law at McGill University in Montreal. He joined the Canadian Army in 1916 and fought in France. Fell there in the battle of Cambrai.
