Jóhanna was the daughter of Einar Guðmundsson Borgfjörð from Borgarfjörður east and Þórstína Þorsteinsdóttir who came west to Minnesota in 1890. Sigurjón moved to Manitoba in 1891 and went to the home of his mother, Ólafia Sigurðardóttir and her second husband, Bjarni Guðmundsson. Sigurjón lived there 11 years and became a fisherman. In 1902 he settled in Poplar Park where he lived for five years. He then moved to Mary Hill, a short distance from Lundar, in 1907. He was a farmer and a fisherman all his life.
