Kristján Ásgeir Benediktsson was born in N. Þingeyjarsýsla on August 23, 1861. He died in Gimli, Manitoba on December 15, 1924.

Kristján and Guðbjörg came west with their son Kristján in 1895 and settled in Winnipeg. Kristján first worked at whatever he could, but then got a job at Heimskringla and worked there for quite a few years. He took part in the First World War, was injured, and returned to Canada recovered. He lived his last years at Gimli.
