Lára Ósk Þorsteinsdóttir was born in Reykjavík on July 7, 1903.
Spouse: 1923 Grímur Júníus Magnússon b. in Gullbringusýsla on June 17, 1895.
Children: 1. Jón Þórður 2. Þórunn Sigríður 3. Þorsteinn Ólafur.
Grímur was the son of Magnús Grímsson and Sigríður Jónsdóttir in Nýlend. He was taken in as a foster child by Þórður Einarsson and Guðbjörg Þorláksdóttir who took him with them to the West in 1900. Guðbjörg did not live long in the West so Þórður placed the boy in foster care with Jón Pálsson and Agnes Magnúsdóttir, settlers in Vatnsdal in the Geysir settlement. Another child was fostered there, Lára Ósk Þorsteinsdóttir. Grímur took over farming in Vatnsdal, where they lived. Both were very involved in social affairs in the settlement, were in the Geysir congregation and taught Lára in Sunday school.
