Marjorie was the daughter of Egilsína Guðlaugur in Riverton, her father was of Scottish descent. Egilsína was the daughter of Eyvindur Jónasson Doll and his second wife, Sesselja Jóhannsdóttir in Riverton. Kristján was the son of Guðjón Valdimar Kristjánsson and Dóróthea Soffía Abrahamsdóttir, in Espihól in New Iceland. Marjorie grew up by the Icelandic River, completed elementary school in Riverton, and went to Winnipeg for college. She attended Success Business College and graduated from there with a commerce degree.
