Ólafur Björnsson was born in N. Múlasýsla on December 28, 1869. He died in Manitoba on October 3, 1937.
Spouse: June 1, 1911 Sigríður Elínborg Jónsdóttir b. in the Garðar Settlement in N. Dakota on April 7, 1889, d. in Winnipeg on March 16, 1932.

Ólafur came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1876 with his parents and siblings. He was the son of Björn Pétursson and Ólafía Ólafsdóttir. The family settled at Sandy Bar in New Iceland and lived there until 1879. They moved to the Pembina Settlement in N. Dakota where Ólafur lived until 1890 when he moved to Winnipeg and lived there. Sigríður’s parents were Jón Brandsson and Margrét Guðbrandsdóttir of Dalasýsla. Sigríður grew up in the Garðar Settlement in N. Dakota but moved to Winnipeg with her brother Guðbrandur (Brandur J. Brandson, physician) and lived with him until her marriage. She became a teacher and taught for a number of years and was the Fjallkona at Íslendingadagurinn in Winnipeg in 1930.
