Ólafur Páll Sigurðsson was born in New Iceland in Manitoba on May 3, 1925.
Unmarried and childless
Ólafur was the son of Kristjón Sigurðsson and Indiana Sveinsdóttir, farmers at Fagradal in the Geysir settlement. Ólafur was also a farmer with his brother Sveinn. He played a major role in the spread of the cooperative movement in Manitoba. In VÍÆ IV, pp. 241-242, there is some discussion of his work, and that discussion is included here in Atvinna.
