Bjarni Valtýr’s parents were Guðmundur Jónsson og Sigríður Bjarnadóttir in Mountain, N.D. In his early teens he was the postman in the settlement but in 1913, he, his father and Oscar Victor homesteaded in Climax, N.D. He and Oscar Victor assisted their fellow countrymen as they arrived. Prepared their fields, seeded and harvested for them. In 1919 he stopped farming moved to Mountain and started a busibess. In 1926 he moved to Walhalla where he worked for Porter Supply Co. In 1934 he began farming again this time near Langdon and had a heard of Aberdeen Angus cattle and also had Karakul sheep. In 1945 he and his wife moved to Sacramento, California where their three daughters lived. They lived there the rest of their lives.
