They came west in 1900 and were first in Pembina, North Dakota. They soon moved from there to New Iceland and took land on the west side of the Framnes – Árdals settlement. Ólafur died there after a few years. Ragnheiður sold most of the land to the railway company C.P.R. and which made it easier to raise a large group of children.
