They came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1883 and moved in the same year to N. Dakota. They settled southwest of Hallson. Jón died there after two years. After several years of hardship, Ragnheiður moved north to Winnipeg, where her daughters had already arrived. Sigurður moved north to Winnipeg in 1896 and from there he made his way north to New Iceland.
